If staff take on new roles during the pandemic will they be covered by NHS Indemnity Insurance scheme?

0

Staff may be concerned about the issue of indemnity if they move to new roles. The NHS Litigation Authority (NHSLA) has confirmed that staff will be covered by the NHS Indemnity Insurance scheme provided they have a contract of employment with the body employing them. This coverage is not affected by the duties that they are asked to carry out. It also applies to volunteers provided they are issued with an honorary contract which covers them for indemnity purposes, for duties they are capable of undertaking and under appropriate supervision. More detailed advice on this issue is in preparation.
