If services have already been authorized for State employees currently in the CMM plan but enrolling in an NC SmartChoice plan option, will BCBSNC carry over the authorization?
If the service was reviewed and authorized under the member’s CMM coverage, that information will be carried over to the member’s NC SmartChoice coverage. However, the request will be subject to the member’s NC SmartChoice benefit coverage effective October 1, 2006, and may or may not be approved for payment. *Authorization is not a guarantee of payment, but rather a determination of medical necessity.
