If our universe is expanding, how long will it expand? Will it ever contract?
A theory has been raised that the universe, which is made up of trillions and trillions of different systems interacting simultanously, behaves like every other system. This includes birth, life, death and rebirth. If you look at the life span of a star, it forms from the aggregation of matter, such as gas and dust, which were expelled by a dying star, such as a supernova. Then, the star, if it is big enough, commences nuclear fusion, like our Sun, converting hydrogen to helium. The star lives for a few billion years before, when the star runs out of “fuel,” it collapses under its own gravity expelling gas and dust throughout the cosmos creating yet another cradle of starbirth. This cycle is played out on earth as well. Every cell in our bodies lives and dies. Every species on the earth lives and dies. Decaying animal matter eventually forms dirt which causes plant growth. Using this as evidence, the theory is that the universe was formed in a gigantic reaction, spewing out every eleme
