If one of my applicants had a FBI fingerprint check processed when they were certified as a teacher (or nurse, police officer, etc.) does he need a new FBI fingerprint check?
Yes, the Department of Public Safety does not retain or share the results of previous fingerprint checks, so in order to know the results and meet the statutory requirements; we must require that you submit new fingerprints. If previous fingerprints were conducted through DFPS, (to be a foster parent, for example), we have access to the results of the check and will not need a second FBI fingerprint check.
