Yes, you are required to collect demographic information on the victims/survivors you serve under the LAV grant. The reason for this is to be able to provide Congress not only with numbers of victims served, but with a description of who is being served. However, if you feel that asking for certain information would be a barrier to service, or would compromise victim safety or confidentiality, then you may choose not to collect it in those instances. Report victims for whom you do not have ethnicity, age, or gender information as “unknown” in the appropriate demographic category.
