If my criminal record is not destroyed by an expungement, are they still useful and effective?
It is extremely important to have a clean criminal record. After 9/11 it is almost impossible to obtain a job unless a prospective employer performs a background check on the applicant. The background check always entails running the criminal record of the applicant. If a person has even the slightest criminal record with only a mere harmless misdemeanor then this could disqualify the person for many jobs, and consequently ruin that person’s life. Therefore, it is essential that a person should expunge there criminal record if possible. A person who applies to be a teacher is not legally required to list any expunged convictions.
