If my business uses more than 1 million litres (one megalitre per annum), what do I need to do?

South East Queensland is experiencing the worst drought on record and our dam levels are at historic lows. All businesses, industry and government agencies which use more than 1 million litres a year of town water will need to undertake some actions to make their premises more water efficient. Level 4 water restrictions now apply in South East Queensland. Businesses and other organisations are being asked to reduce the amount of water they use. Installing and using water efficient appliances is one of the most cost effective means of reducing water consumption. For a business which uses more than 1 million litres per annum, after 30 June 2007, the use of town water in kitchens, bathrooms, laundries and ablution areas within your business will be subject to certain restrictions.
