Most would argue that killing in war is not an equal act to murder. The government defines them differently, and judging by the Old Testament, God defines them differently, too. Actually, the bible says murder is a mortal sin, but also lying, lusting, stealing, and taking God’s name in vain. Did you know that? Have you done any of those things? And yes, any sin will damn someone to hell, because God says all liars, murderers, theives, fornicators and hypocrites will have their part in the lake of fire. He is too holy and just, and sinners will not be allowed in heaven. But because He is merciful and loves us, He sent His Son, Jesus, to live sinlessly and take our punishment on the cross. Anyone who truly repents of his or her sin AND puts his/her faith in Jesus and does NOT trust in his/her own righteousness will be saved from hell.
