If multiple organizations within a county apply, will the local health department take priority or be favored over other applicants?
No. All applications will be scored by objective review panels who will be applying the criteria and points detailed in the FOA. No applicants will be given priority over others, but they need to fulfill all application requirements. Multiple organizations can apply, but CDC will fund only one application serving the same geographic area. In addition, no one geographic area will be awarded both categories (Capacity Building and Implementation) of funding. States that contain large counties could have multiple applications from large counties and from the entire state not including counties eligible to apply on their own. In addition, the following factors may affect the funding decision: geographic diversity; representation of a varied mixture and type of strategies; inclusion of communities of varying sizes; and inclusion of populations and areas with a high burden of chronic diseases and those that bear the highest burden of health disparities.
