If Jesus were walking around today, would the republicans be the money changers in the temple?

They would most absolutely not be the money changers in the Temple. The Temple money-changers of today would be those religious leaders who fleece the flock for personal gain–religious leaders who plead and plead for money while they themselves live extravagant lifestyles. People seem to forget that those Jesus saved His harshest words for were those in the “church” (or Temple, in that case). He was more interested in changing individuals’ hearts than in politics–government and laws can only change the exterior, not the internal. In fact, Jesus stayed out of politics altogether.
