If ignorance is the cause of perception of duality in reality which is essentially nondual, what should one do to remove that ignorance?
Ans: As stated earlier, there is no ignorance apart from the notion ” I am ignorant”. A notion too must have its basis in reality which alone is truly real, notion being false. To recognize a notion to be a notion and to know the Reality alone to be real is the only way to eliminate the notion. The world is not to be eliminated, to know the cause of the world. The Reality is unaffected by notions and is appreciated only on recognizing the notion to be false. One has therefore not to do anything other than acquiring the knowledge, “I am the Nondual Reality”. By the strength of this knowledge ignorance ceases to exist. Since ignorance is opposed to knowledge the two cannot co-exist. The fire of knowledge engulfs the ‘world of change’ along with its cause viz ignorance of the Reality. This knowledge is generated through a means called ‘pramana’ which is ‘Vedanta’ also called the Upanisads, constituting the end portion of the Veda. Upanisads are texts which deal with the oneness of the ind
