Yes, definitely. After the general purpose (lower quality) gel coat layer is exposed to water, detergent and kitchen household-chemicals the surface is going to fade, crack and deform. You can see similar results at the gel coat simulator section. You should prefer High performance gel coat such as Polijel 213 for this purpose.
