If I submit a new UCC financing statement with a social security number or employer identification number, will the number be displayed online?
The answer depends upon the method of submittal. UCC financing statements and other liens that are filed on paper will have the social security number (“SSN”) or employer identification number (“EIN”) redacted. Until the Secretary of State’s Office implements automated redaction, those records submitted electronically will display SSNs or EINs if provided by the filer. If a person reviewing a financing statement notices an SSN or EIN, please contact the Secretary of State’s Office so that a review and possible redaction of the suspect number can be made.
