If I receive an Abend using CA-Gener/OL, what information do I need to provide to Computer Associates to diagnose the problem?
The best way to ensure that CA Technical Support has the best opportunity for problem resolution would be to provide a full-system (or full-partition) dump. If you contact CA Technical Support, they will set up an FTP site to which you can upload the dump for prompt analysis. The reason a full-partition dump is required is because there are addresses that point into segments that can only be found in the partition. Therefore, to obtain all storage information required for proper analysis and problem determination, a full-partition dump is required. Unfortunately, transaction dumps often cannot provide the necessary information that support requires to diagnose and solve most problems.
