If I really like jiu jitsu, but want to practice other martial arts as well, are there any good alternatives?

Karate is a good alternative to jiu jitsu. They both have origins from Japan and both focus on fighting skills that are about disabling an opponent without the use of a weapon. A lot of the elements to jiu jitsu are related to floor grappling, throwing, and locking an opponent, effectively disabling them from further combat.

The way that karate compares is that it is also a form of "empty-hand fighting" (it’s actual meaning in Japanese kara ’empty’ te ‘hand’).

Aikido is also a similar branch to jiu jitsu. Aikido forces on manipulting the energy of an opponent’s attack to ground them or use it in your own attack.

Try them all. Martial arts that are most similar to Jiu Jitsu include: Judo, Aikido and Karate.
