A. Yes. As an active employee, your SHBP or SEHBP health plan is the primary payer of your prescription drug benefits. Therefore, the SHBP or SEHBP will cover the cost of drugs that are not on a Medicare Part D plan’s formulary. When you retire, you will have to choose to continue either your SHBP or SEHBP prescription drug coverage or a Medicare Part D prescription drug plan (see Question #16 below).
