If I move from a self-care unit to the Hostel or the Nursing Home, what are the costs associated with moving to the different type of accommodation?
A. It must be remembered that current Commonwealth Government policy guidelines on admission to subsidised Hostels or Nursing Homes require placed to be allocated on a “needs” basis. If you are eligible for admission then the costs associated with moving are in respect of the hostel, the payment of any entry contribution which under current government guidelines is currently $190,000.00. Entry to the nursing home may incur an accommodation charge of up to $16.45 which is means tested. The Entry Contribution less the 15% donation in respect of your self care unit will be refunded in accordance with the procedure outlines in the answer to Question 24 to 26. Maintenance fees for the Independent Living Unit however will continue to be payable as described in Question 4 until a new resident is located or six months has lapsed, whichever is the earlier.
