If I miss the deadline for one competition, and still participate in an undergraduate research program anyway, can I get reimbursed for expenses if I am given an award in the following competition?

No. A student will not be awarded funds as reimbursement for a research activity that has already been completed. Proposals submitted to the URISC program must be work that is “proposed” to be done if the applicant receives funding. Funds must be used in the period of time that the expenses occur.
