If I leave my inground pool without water in it, will it wreck the liner overnight?

Unless that liner is brand spanking new, you don’t want to leave it empty for any length of time. Older vinyl ( 2 or more years) will shrink with the water no longer holding down and against the walls. When you refill it, the liner won’t stretch back to it’s original position easily if at all. What usually happens is it will pull out of the coping track at the very least. Getting it back in again will require a pool tech (if it hasn’t shrunk too much) and if that liner has a wall pattern, that pattern will have a “wave” to it now. It will look pretty ugly. The other possibility is that it will seam snap or will tear away from under any built in stairs you have. That’s one very evil area to attempt a successful patch job if it can be done 100% at all. You may already be looking at a new liner I’m afraid, depending on that one’s age. You NEVER completely drain a vinyl liner pool unless you plan on filling it to at least 6 inches into the shallow end ASAP or you’re installing a replacemen
