If I have significant practice experience in the field of counselling or psychotherapy, can I skip parts of the Masters programme?
As our programmes are structured and approved as postgraduate degrees, in usual circumstances, professional experience alone cannot be awarded academic credits. In exceptional circumstances an application for Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning may be made for course 1 of the Pg Certificate in Counselling Studies. You would have to demonstrate that, in the course of your professional practice, you have fully met the learning outcomes of this course. Applicants with significant experience who are also professionally accredited counsellors or psychotherapists may be able to complete the MSc in Counselling Studies part-time in one year, without having to take the Pg Certificate.
