Prior state service under the Miscellaneous formula will still be calculated under Miscellaneous formula and added to your percentage for your service as a DAG under the Safety formula. Note: Because prior state Miscellaneous service in a different job is not subject to the 80% cap, your aggregate percentage may exceed 80%. The same holds true for prior service credit under the CalPERS Local Miscellaneous retirement formula for cities or counties whose retirements are handled through CalPERS. (For example: The retirement for someone with 5 years as a Caltrans worker and 30 years as a DAG who retires at age 55 will be calculated as follows. 5 years x 2% = 10%, 30 years x 2.5% = 75%. The aggregate amount for the service is 85%. Only the 30 years of service as a DAG is subject to the 80% cap, the 5 years as a Caltrans worker is not, so the aggregate can exceed 80%.)
