If I have been found guilty of an offence, will that stop me from obtaining a licence?
Having committed an offence, or offences, does not automatically prevent an applicant from being approved by the Commission. Matters taken into account include the nature of the offence, number of offences, result of the court hearing and the time elapsed since the offence was committed. Section 9A.1.5 of the Gambling Regulation Act 2003 sets out criteria that must be assessed by the Commission before an application for a gaming industry employee’s licence is determined. It is vital that all offences, not just those on National Police Certificates are disclosed, as failure to disclose may affect your suitability to hold a gaming industry employee’s licence. Each application is considered on its merits. No indication can be given whether a licence will be granted until the Commission has assessed and determined the application.
