If I have an archery license, can I go hunting in the gun season if I don\t get anything while bowhunting?
A. It all depends on what you mean by “archery” license. Some Cody Region and Sheridan Region elk hunt areas have archery only licenses which are listed as type 9 in the regulations. If you have one of these licenses you are restricted to archery hunting during the specific season listed for your license in the regulations. Type 9 licenses are not valid in the later gun season. On the other hand, you may have another type of limited quota license or a general license. If you have these licenses you may purchase the archery permit which allows you to hunt in the early archery season. If unsuccessful you may still hunt during the firearms season. The archery permit is not needed for holders of archery only licenses.
