If i get a degree in accounting and join the FBI, will i get a desk job?
A “field agent” works at a desk. “Field” means that you are assigned to one of the many field offices of the FBI. It has nothing to do with outside, the street, a field, etc. Let me caution you. On television it looks like the FBI is always on the go, getting involved in shootouts, investigating exciting crimes, wrestling with criminals, etc. Nothing could be further from the truth. Actually FBI agents do none of those things and spend a lot of time investigating white collar crime, espionage, and writing reports. A city or county police detective sees more dead bodies in a month than an FBI agent sees in his entire career. Get a good degree because the chance of getting hired is about one in 10 thousand. I am not kidding. They have many, many applicants and hire very very few.
