If I feel extremely depressed and and can stop OCD thoughts, what will medication do for me?

Hi, I know how hard OCD can be sometimes but there is light at the end of the tunnel. I am a medical student with OCD and I don’t take medications as I find they make me less mentally alert than I need to be. I have been helped hugely by self taught CBT by using this book: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Overcoming-Obsessive-Compulsive-Disorder-David-Veale/dp/1841199362 its on the UK amazon so if you are sommewhere else, use your own countries version. To beat OCD, you can’t stop the thoughts – that makes them worse. All the thoughts are normal, even the really wierd or horrible ones. The trick is to let them happen and not let them upset you. The book will show you how and it is recommended by healthcare professionals here. You should be able to get some professional help as well from your doctor. Go and have a chat and see what they say. I can do it without drugs, I bet you can too.

What is your question?
