If I control a Vix’ben and my opponent plays a Mugic Card, can I respond with a Mugic or ability that adds Mugic counters to Vix’ben to negate the Mugic?
Vix’ben’s ability states, “When an opposing Creature plays a Mugic Card, remove all Mugic counters from Vix’ben. If you removed more Mugic counters this way than the Mugic Card’s cost, negate that Mugic.” When an opposing Creature plays a Mugic Card, Vix’ben’s ability will trigger and go on the Burst on top of the Mugic. The Mugic counters are not removed until Vix’ben’s ability resolves, so it is possible to play a Mugic or ability to add Mugic counters to Vix’ben later on the Burst in order to negate the Mugic.
