Even with prolo when the ligaments are stronger, you should probably do some maintenance exercises. If your abdominal muscles are weak and if you carry extra weight on the front of the pelvis, the constant strain on the posterior ligaments may eventually cause the prolo to fail. This is only my opinion, but they don’t have enough long term results on this yet to say for sure. Even if the prolo or surgical fixation holds and your pelvis is solid, weakness in the abdominal and weight on the front of the pelvis will cause the pelvis to tip down in front and increase the lordosis (curvature in your low back) to increase. If the lordosis increases, the intervertebral foramina (openings between the vertebrae where the nerves come out) will become smaller and may compromise the nerves and the disks will be subject to increased shear forces. So keep your tummy in and your back flat forever.
