If I am writing a compare and contrast essay, should I include my own thoughts and arguements?

I’ve learned that personally teachers like it when I add my thoughts and feelings, because in order for you to compare and contrast it, you must have formed some idea of it, by having an opinion. These will help you to create dynamic compare and contrast points. For example I love the movie Coroline, I feel that the ending in the movie was too quick, and compared to the book, the ending is much better. I can tell you exactly what was different because of my thoughts and feels associated with that. My boyfriend who saw the movie, didn’t care, he didn’t really like it, so he would have a different option thus a different comparasion and contrast.
