If I am getting a security clearance for the military, will they check my medical history?
No – MEPS cannot, and never will pull up your medical information. They will make you think they can, but it’s a bluff to catch you in a lie. Even if you do say something, MEPS will not do anything but disqualify you – YOU have to get the medical records and then submit them for a waiver. They may also send you for a psychiatric consult – and then they will review the information and determine if they will issue a waiver or not. Depression is a disqualifier – so I doubt the waiver will even be considered, and if it is, then it will likely be disapproved. Bottom line is that MEPS only knows the medical history YOU disclose to them. They can’t “look it up”. There is no magical medical file that they can just type up your name, and get all your medical info – you have to provide that. If you don’t, they can’t check it.
