If I am an active member of the North Carolina State Bar but I do not practice North Carolina law, what should I do to be relieved of membership fees and CLE obligations?
You must petition to become an inactive member of the State Bar to be relieved of membership fees and CLE obligations. You must complete and file a petition with the membership department of the State Bar entitled “Petition for Transfer to Inactive Status (available on the Forms page). See 27 NCAC 1D, Rule .0901.
