If I already have approval from another IRB, do I still need approval from the Meriter Hospital IRB?
YES! If you are conducting your research in a Meriter entity, using or recruiting Meriter patients, or if you are a Meriter employee conducting research in Meriter or at a location outside of Meriter, then you must have Meriter IRB approval to conduct your research. The Meriter IRB reserves the right to independently review research for the protection of its patients’ health, welfare and rights. Meriter Health Services has established the Meriter IRB to ensure that research conducted here is in compliance with federal and state regulations governing the protection of human subjects.
