If I already have a counselling or therapy qualification, can I skip parts of the Masters programme?
If you have a counselling qualification gained at postgraduate level which is equivalent to the Edinburgh University Postgraduate Certificate in Counselling Studies or Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling, you can gain entry with advance standing (link) and skip parts of the Masters programmes. An equivalent qualification to the Pg Certificate means that you could enter straight into the Pg Diploma phase (Year 2) of the MSc/Pg Diploma in Counselling. Alternatively, you could use a qualification equivalent to the Pg Certificate to complete the MSc in Counselling Studies in one year part-time. Similarly, if you already have a Pg Diploma in Counselling you may complete the MSc in Counselling Studies in one year part-time. If you have completed a Postgraduate Certificate in counselling or therapy which is not directly equivalent to the Edinburgh University Pg Certificate, you may be awarded accreditation of prior learning (link) towards one or two of the three courses that make up the Pg ce
