If HFO should cease to exist or become unable to operate, would CWEF be able to recover funds to be used for their charitable objectives in India?
The bank account of HFO for the operations of CWEF is only for the operations of CWEF. Each year, the funds sent to HFO by CWEF for assisting needy widows are disbursed within 30 days of receipt by HFO. Therefore, the funds are exhausted before the end of September. It is also a requirement of the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Government of India that charitable funds be used in the allotted year for the charitable purpose intended. Therefore, by the laws of India, the funds cannot be allowed to accumulate in this account. However, if a situation were to arise in a future year such that there were funds in the account and HFO had ceased to exist, then CWEF would requisition the Government of India to transfer these funds to another charitable society that it would designate to act as CWEF’s intermediary in India in place of HFO. The funds in the HFO account are approved by the government of India for the operations of CWEF only. NOTE: If you have any queries that have not been addres
