If God promotes free will, why do Christians want to force their beliefs into law and schools?
God does not promote free will. The entire story of the Christian Bible is how punishment, torture and death awaits everyone who does not do as he says. To truly have free will, you must be able to make a decision for yourself based on the available evidence without threat of arbitrary punishment. This is not what happens in religious environments. Every single major religion, especially the big three Abrahamic religions, teach explicitly that punishment, torture and death await those who leave the faith and/or deny it’s authority. Under these conditions, it is a bald faced lie to claim that people have free will to choose whether to accept the existence of gods or not.If they truly believed in free will, once someone rejected religions and all their claims for knowledge they cannot possibly possess, said religionists would shut their traps.
