If God loves everyone, does he love the Devil?
IF God loves everyone, as you ask me to assume, then he must, by default, love the Devil. This is basic deductive logic. Premise 1: God loves everyone. Premise 2: The Devil is someone. Conclusion: Therefore, God loves the Devil. The only way God could not love the devil is if the first or second premise were untrue.
The only way you could possibly know whether God loved the devil would be if He said so. And while it is clear in Scripture that He loves all mankind, and is patient with their slowness to understand, there is not a hint in Scripture that He wastes any love on the devil and other evil angels. St. Thomas Aquinas deduced that almost immediately after their creation the angels decided either to rebel against God or be loyal to Him; but we, being human and limited by our flesh, need a lifetime to decide. When we say that “God loves everyone” this does not include the angels until it is proved that He does. Psalm 26:5 says in two translations “I abhor the congregation of evildoers” (King James: “I have hated the congregation of evildoers”); this would pre-eminently include the devil and his angels. Psalm 5:5, speaking to God, says “you hate all who do wrong.” Since the devil never does anything else, it is a safe conclusion that although God loved him when he created him, He hates him since
The Lord loves everyone. The Devil was once an angel at the Lord’s side. Also, the devil did not want to ursurp God, only to become LIKE Him. In Exodus 34:6-7, the Lord passes over Moses proclaims “The LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished”. Thus the Lord loves, and even forgives the Devil, yet he must punish him.
God does love him. God loves everyone and he sent us Jesus to prove that. Satan rebelled against God, but think about it. Haven’t we too at some point? The Isrealites constantly rebelled, yet God still showed His love and care. Every time a thought comes into your mind that conflicts with the Bible, it is a sin. Sin is sin, whether it be murder or stealing a marshmallow or something like that. So rebelling against God is counted as sin which is equal to any other sin in God’s eyes. So yes, Satan did sin. He is basically the creator of sin. But God made Satan just as He made us. God loves all the creatures and everything He created. So yes, I believe God loves Satan just as He loves us.
