If flying is so safe, why do they call the airport a terminal?

The airport is called an airport. A terminal is defined as a building at an airport where passengers transfer between ground transportation and the facilities that allow them to board and disembark from airplanes (end wikipedia). Therefore flying is safe, but for clumsy passengers the terminal could be a bit of a hazard.
