If Eugene Field has consistently achieved at high levels and is not the worst school for staff efficiency or utility cost per student, why has Eugene Field been targeted for closure?
Eugene Field was selected for closure in some of the options presented due to the student demographics of the District and location of the buildings. There are 197 students that reside in the current Eugene Field boundary. Horace Mann is also located in this boundary area. Under most options there were not enough students to warrant keeping both schools opened in that area. As Horace Mann is a larger school with more grounds, it was selected as the boundary school for that area of the District. Back to Top ———————– 16.
