I ask that same question myself. It seems every year that my family (biological family, not my family-in-law) has some huge argument over Christmas. Makes me so glad I don’t live near them anymore. I think Christmastime brings old resentments out. Everyone is made to think Christmas should be so perfect, special, and happy that expectations for it go far beyond what can really be. Then, every Christmas that is still not ‘perfect’ makes you think of all the other ‘perfect’ ones that your family didn’t have or your parents didn’t make sure you had. Plus everyone is stressed out trying to make it perfect! Tensions rise and then it’s another fight and another Christmas to build resentment about…a never ending cycle!
