If called, do Tier 2 facility operators have to mark their facilities?
• If a Tier 2 facility Operator has facilities within the area described in the notice of excavation, the operator must respond to the excavator. That response can be one of the following options: • Provide locates of buried facilities using a 25 inch tolerance zone; • Notify excavator of the operators need for a 61 inch tolerance zone and provide locates of buried facilities using a 61 inch tolerance zone; • Notify excavator that the operator is unable to provide locates within a 61 inch accuracy; or • Notify the excavator that the operator will not be providing locates because the operators facilities are more than two feet deeper than the excavators maximum expected digging depth.
