If Australia becomes a republic, what happens to Australians who live in the UK by dual nationality!?
Sorry, but I’m having a huge amount of trouble believing that anyone could possibly think otherwise. Is this a serious question?? Australia becoming a republic won’t make even the slightest difference to anyone’s nationality. Australia is already a completely independent nation and and if any of its citizens already have dual or multiple nationality, NOTHING will change and they will still retain whatever nationalities/citizenships they have at the time. Australia needs to become a republic to throw off its last remaining ties to the monarchy but the issue of Australian citizenship was well and truly settled way back on 26 January 1949 when the Nationality and Citizenship Act 1948 came into effect and NOTHING will change when we become a republic.
