If an offender is recommended for parole what is the process that takes place as the file is processed to the Governors Office?
If an offender is recommended for parole, a parole certificate is prepared by our office and sent to the offenders location for them to sign. While this is taking place the Department of Corrections is checking the offenders home offer. Once these two items have been completed and any stipulations are finished the file is then sent to the Governors Office. This process can take up to 30 days or more if there are stipulations to be completed. Once the file is at the Governors Office, he has 30 days in which to act on the recommendation.
