The IGERT grant has limits concerning who can be paid. Expenses for funded IGERT trainees should come out of the participant cost section of the grant. While ideally IGERT Associates (students participating in IGERT project activities but not receiving a stipend due to alternative funding or ineligibility) will be able to participate, IGERT funds cannot be used. IGERT also cannot fund foreign students. If the invited participants are faculty members and the PI views them as consultants then these consultants could be paid from the funds in that category.
