If an employee is reassigned from one career path to another, can their pay be set at any rate within the new pay band in the new career path?

If a change in pay band is a result of a reassignment, the employee may be reassigned to a position in the same pay band, or to another pay band in a different career path that has the same pay potential as his/her current position. If this occurs as a result of a competitive action, up to a 5 percent increase can be provided. If the reassignment is made non-competitively, no change in overall pay will occur. If a change in career path is a result of a competitive promotion, the employee’s base pay will be increased by a minimum of 8 percent.
