If an authorizing agency has a different student information system (SIS) than the charter school, must data be submitted to CALPADS and CBEDS-OPUS independently from my authorizing agency?
No. With CALPADS it is not necessary for the charter school and the authorizing agency to have the same SIS even if the charter school is designated as reporting with their authorizing agency. CALPADS provides the ability for charter schools reporting through their authorizing agency to submit their own data directly to CALPADS. The authorizing agency can assign a charter school a local role, enabling the charter school (just like any non-charter public school) the ability to submit data directly to CALPADS. Although the non-independently reporting charter school may submit their data directly to CALPADS, the authorizing agency remains accountable and must certify the charter school data in CALPADS within the published deadlines.
