If an applicants rotation already includes a legume crop (i.e. soybeans or alflalfa) in the rotation do they qualify for the enhancement activity ENM40a Add Legume to Crop Rotation?
No. This item does not apply to soybeans or alfalfa that is already part of their normal cropping system. If soybeans or alfalfa are not currently part of their rotation and they agree to replace one of their existing crops with soybeans, alfalfa or another legume to fix nitrogen and reduce the amount of nitrogen necessary for the following crop it would qualify for this enhancement. This component requires an additional component to be scheduled in the same year (ENM40b, ENM40c, ENM40e, ENM40f, ENM40g, ENM40h, ENM40i, or ENM40j). Refer to the enhancement worksheet for the criteria. A leguminous cover crop planted between two primary crops is also acceptable.
