To me it means that one is afraid to use their power because it would then make them corrupt. I would say use the power and learn to control it.

to an extent, but if someone were absolutely powerless, that wouldn’t exactly make them pure. being pure is being themselves, and if having no power is what makes them “them”, then yes, they are pure.
