Yes. An employee determined to be temporarily disabled may be continued in such status for a period not to exceed one (1) year for each work related injury. Upon recommendation of the Medical Director, the period in temporary disability status may be extended in six (6) month increments at the discretion of the appointing authority. An employee may be continued in temporary disability status for a period not to exceed three (3) years in the aggregate, during an employee’s employment with the City. At the termination of such maximum payment period the employee shall be separated from City government ( Reg. 32.045 ).
