If a student is not in ALP Language Arts in middle school does this mean they will not be able to take the honors and AP English courses at the high school?
No. Selection for ninth grade English 113/123 is made in the second semester of 8th grade and is based on class performance, DRP scores and teacher recommendations. Many students who are not in ALP Language Arts are selected for ninth grade English 113/123 and then Honors English 213/223. Students who are recommended to take English 112/122 in ninth grade still have the opportunity to take honors English in 10th grade if their performance in English 112/122 is very strong.
