Only one spouse will need to enroll in ESS when selecting a Cross Reference plan. The Cross Referenced plan selected will update the other spouse’s enrollment information approximately 1-2 days after an update of the data has occurred. The spouse with the earliest hire date will be the primary plan holder and have a “Prime” plan. The other spouse will be the secondary plan holder and have a “Sec” plan.
