If a President aligned with the Black Panthers wants to disband Congress, do the Generals have to comply?
The President doesnt have the power to overthrow Congress and the Supreme Court. Generals would not allow it. Although they report to the President, they are required to adhere to the Bill of Rights and the US Constitution. There wouldnt be a civil war for this as the offending President would be arrested on the spot by the Joint Chiefs. He would be detained at Camp David or some other secure location while the VP fills in. During this detainment, the President will NOT have the power to pardon himself. The Joint Chiefs would try him in a military tribunal as the Supreme Court and the Speaker of the house pursue impeachment proceedings. At most this would result in the demise of that persons political party.
